September 4: Sanders' Box

I got a TON of painting accomplished today-- it was delightful to finish the frames of the cupboards, to complete one side of each of the cabinet doors, and to work on the new cabinet my husband built to complete our new kitchen island, but I also finally painted Sanders' Box. Back when my husband was building the very first pieces of the island, Sanders (our youngest ginger cat) started sleeping in one of the toe kicks for the new bookcase. We did not want him to do this, as I was trying to paint them and get them ready for installation, but it was super cute seeing him all squished up and comfy inside of it, so my husband built him his very own box out of some scrap wood. Sanders has loved it and is often found sleeping in it. I kept telling myself I would paint it, and I am so delighted that I FINALLY did. I painted the entire box brown, and I created stencils in order to paint a paw print on both of the short sides, and his name on one of the long sides, in my favorite teal color (leftover paint from our staircase project). It looks fantastic, and I can't wait to finish polyurethaning it so he can sleep in it once more!

With delight,

♥Jamie
